grooter forums are community discussion areas.

reading and posting to forums: to access the group forums, click on the forums link on the main navigation bar. you will be able to read posts made by other members and post responses.

if you do not find a topic in the forums that you would like to discuss, please contact member services by posting a request to member services forum or send an email to member services at members@grooted.org, and the forum will be created for you within 24 hours.

introduction to grooter photo galleries

grooter galleries are where you can post individual photos and collections. use these to provide visual support to your blogs and forum discussions... or to merely share photos with others.

viewing other galleries: click the Photo galleries link on the main navigation bar to view member photo galleries.

creating your own gallery: accessing and managing your photos is easy and similiar to managing blogs. after you have logged into grooted.org, click on the control panel link on the main navigation bar. through the control panel dashboard, you will be able to create and title galleries, upload photos, and insert commentary descriptions for each photo.

NOTE: for optimal site use, resize your images to either 640X480 for general posting, and for pictures you want to insert into blogs or other communications, resize to 320X240.

introduction to grooter blogs

grooter blogs are weblogs or online journals. they allow you to actively participate in promoting social change by publishing and sharing your thoughts, ideas, news or anything else you want.

blogs are flexible & highly effective communication tools that you can customize to fit your needs. they can be informal posts that you create whenever you feel like or more formal publishings based upon specific topics. for example, you can create a monthly update on early childhood development trends or you can create an awareness building campaign on public health issues over a 6-month period.

viewing member blogs: go to the blog page on the main navigation bar where postings are arranged chronologically. you can view a post by clicking on any title, read, comment, and subscribe to other peoples blogs.

creating your own blog: after logging into grooted.org, click on the 'control panel' link on the main navigation bar. the control panel dashboard is where you customize and post for both blogs and photo galleries. in the control panel dashboard, you will be able to establish titles, publish posts, and change various settings. in addition, you will be able to change the design of your blog with a number of templates to suit your personal tastes.

once you have set up your blog and began posting, you will find that you can be quite creative in what you post, how you present it, and how you reach various audiences.

introduction to grooter profiles

grooter profiles serve as you homepage on grooted.org. think of it as your online identity where others can learn about you, your background and interests. they will also be able to link to anything you publish, including blogs, photos, multimedia (coming soon) and the people and posts that you list as your favorites.

to access your profile, make sure that you first login to grooted.org. then, click on the "my profile" link on the main navigation bar.

you will be presented with several tabs where you can enter personal information (share what you like, nothing is mandatory), as well as tabs for site options and favorite listings. The information that you can enter include:

signature & bio - signatures are short descriptions (500 character limit) that are displayed next to your avatar (picture) on anything that you post; bios are more detailed summaries of your background, interests, really anything you want to share about yourself
about - additional info about you, where you live, job, etc. you can also include links to your blogs, galleries, and personal websites
avatar - photo that you can upload that will be displayed on any posts that you create (choose smaller photos to upload); full upload may take several minutes before you can view your avatar
email - settings and pulic emails that you can share, i.e. hotmail, yahoo, etc. (members can also send you private message through the site if you do not wish to make your personal email public
site options - options to customize how you view and use the site (these can be adjusted anytime so feel free to customize)
password & statistics - reset passwords and member statistics
favorites - view and manage users, post, sections you indicate as your favorites

as a member of grooted.org, you will be able to connect with socially-conscious people around the world to share ideas and promote social issues. our goal is to advocate for social change through a ground-UP approach that puts control in the hands of our users. grooters determine the issues that they want to promote and publish the content to support them.

our site is powered by a number of web-based tools that allow users to publish ideas, experiences, and photos (files and multimedia coming soon). using grooted.org is quite easy, and as you become more comfortable with the site, you will learn how to customize it to your personal tastes in a creative and enjoyable way. so let's begin, it's as easy as 1-2-3!
